    Portable Studio-quality Sound
Sennheiser HD 200 PRO headphones deliver studio-quality sound without breaking the bank. Proprietary neodymium magnets ensure detailed sound with loads of low-end punch. These headphones offer outstanding comfort, courtesy of their light weight and soft ear cushions. Enjoy excellent sonic isolation, by means of a closed-back over-ear design. A robust single-sided cable gives rise to tangle-free, unencumbered movement. In the studio, at your electric piano, or in front of your laptop, Sennheiser HD 200 PRO headphones provide an enjoyable listening experience.
    Circumaural vs. supra-aural
In layman's terms, these words simply mean "over ear" (circumaural) and "on ear" (supra-aural). In the case of headphones, this refers to the design of the earcup, which is the cushion that sits between the headphone's speakers (drivers) and your ear. Here at Sweetwater, we rarely use supra-aural headphones for professional applications, although they're great for casual listening — especially if you need to be aware of what's going on around you. On the other hand, over-ear headphones like these Sennheiser HD 200 PROs offer excellent attenuation of external noise.
    Closed-back vs. open-back
Also referred to sometimes as simply "closed" and "open," this distinction addresses the design of the part of the headphone that covers the area behind the driver in a straight line away from the side of your head. Closed-back headphones like these Sennheiser HD 200 PROs prevent sound from escaping and leaking into your microphone. The downside of this design is that it traps pressure inside the headphone, which creates false low frequencies. These false low frequencies are fine for most uses (and even desirable in consumer products), but less desirable for critical listening.
    The Sennheiser story
Sennheiser has been producing broadcast technology products since the 1940s and continues to develop microphone technology and wireless systems. Based in Germany, Sennheiser actually began as Laboratorium Wennebostel, manufacturing tube voltmeters. Microphone production followed shortly, and Lab W microphones quickly became a trusted name in broadcast, movie, and TV production. After adopting the Sennheiser name in 1958, their continued advancements in microphone technology soon made them popular with recording studios. Notable innovations include some of the first RF wireless systems for TV and stage use, the first interference tube mic for movies and TV, and the world's first open-back headphones.

Closed-back over-ear design offers excellent attenuation of external noise

Lightweight design with soft ear cushions provide outstanding comfort
Robust single-sided 2m (6.56') cable gives rise to tangle-free, unencumbered movement

Studio-monitor Sound at a Multimedia Speaker Price!
You don't need to spend a fortune to get accurate sound, and with PreSonus Eris E3.5 studio monitors, the proof is in the pudding. These nearfield monitors feature robust woven composite woofers that offer excellent low-frequency reproduction with next to no distortion and silk-dome tweeters that deliver smooth and balanced highs. The result: sound you can trust, which means the mixes you create will translate better from one stereo to another. That's something you won't get out of multimedia speakers, which are designed to make music sound better, not to reproduce audio accurately.
Onboard acoustic tuning controls let you contour your sound for your space
If you've read the Sweetwater Studio Monitors Buying Guide, then you already know about the problems that go with putting your monitors too close to walls. That's when extreme low frequencies cause your walls to vibrate and act like big speaker cones, filling the air with false harmonics and ruining your ability to mix with accuracy. But sometimes the shape and size of your room leave you with no alternative but to place your monitors close to a wall. That's where the Eris E3.5's acoustic tuning controls come in handy. By cutting your Eris E3.5's bass by up to 6dB, you can compensate for this phenomenon, without jeopardizing your sound.
Eris E3.5's 50 watts of Class AB amplification provide plenty of gain and headroom
Offering up a solid 50 watts of Class AB amplification gives the PreSonus Eris E3.5 a major advantage over studio monitors that feature just enough power to get the job done. It may sound kind of technical, but the way this feature benefits you is pretty straightforward. With the Eris E3.5's gain set to unity (the U in the middle of the dial), you can comfortably monitor your mix at an appropriate level, but still have plenty of extra volume to spare so that run-away transients (momentary loud peaks) sound louder, instead of just distorting at the same relative volume. It's hard to express just how readily this easily overlooked feature of the Eris E3.5 can save your mix.
Flexible configuration options let you set up your speakers to best meet your needs
If you need to fine-tune your sound to achieve a flat frequency response, you'll find fully variable high- and low-frequency controls on the back that let you boost or cut up to 6dB in their respective ranges. What's more, PreSonus outfitted their Eris E3.5 studio monitors with unbalanced RCA as well as balanced TRS inputs, so you can connect them directly to just about any sound source in your studio. You also get an aux input for connecting your smartphone or media player and a headphone output for private listening.
    PreSonus Eris E3.5 Features:
An outstanding way to upgrade your monitoring so that your mixes translate
3.5" woven composite woofers deliver solid low-end sound with minimal bass distortion

50-watt Class AB amplification (25 Watts per speaker) provides plenty of volume and headroom for nearfield monitoring
RCA and balanced 1/4" inputs provide all the connections you may need
Aux input for connecting your smartphone or media player
    Headphone output for private listening
Acoustic tuning controls let you contour your sound to best meet your mixing environment
