Description
Lee Hagan was one of Atlanta's most prominent grocers in the early 1890's. In 1885, Hagan bought a bottling plant. This plant used a foot powered machine, bottles were washed by hand in a tub, and the products were delivered on foot using 2 one-mule wagons. Mr. G.T. Dodd, a wholesale grocer, later joined Hagan's operation, forming the company Hagan & Dodd. The company soon, in 1885, founded the Red Rock Soda Company. Dodd started making Red Rock Ginger Ale, and soon this flavor was applauded all over the south. In 1894, Hagan made a cola called "Afri-Cola". In 1929 Dodd purchased Hagan's interest in the company. This is a glass 6 oz crown top bottle. On the face is, "Hagan & Dodd Purity Brand Atlanta, Ga.".
The bottle is quite cloudy and has some case wear. However, it has no chips or cracks.
