    Description

    A rare magic lantern glass slide by A. Nielen, a Cincinnati photographer, from his travels to Hawaii.
    Title: "[Date: 1924] Honolulu - T.H. Homeward Bound." This photo shows the photographer A. Nielsen with his camera in hand, and his wife Dora. Nielen's code indicates the slide number over the year.
    Standard 4" x 3.25" Magic Lantern Slide in color. Condition is very good as shown.
    Nielen is best known for his postcards, which can sell for several hundred dollars each. He documented his travels to California, Hawaii, Japan, and the Netherlands. Most of his images include descriptive text with Nielen or his initials in the plate. A. Nielen and his wife Dora Nielen appear in a good number of the photographs, and there are also some personal photographs that were taken at their homes.
    Per Worthpoint and Invaluable, this is the first time that colored glass slides by A. Nielen of Cincinnati, Ohio have appeared on the market. Rare and collectible, these images speak to a different time.  These were recently discovered in Cincinnati and appear to be from Nielen's personal collection.
