The Audi 4000 is a 4-door sedan that combines comfort and refinement with a definite affinity to the delights of being put through its paces along a winding country road. The 4000’s lighter curb weight in concert with the
powerful 5-cylinder engine and superb handling qualities create an automobile with the functional benefits of a sedan that can perform like a sports car when the spirit moves you.
The Audi 4000 5+5 is the newest Audi sports sedan - a 2-door, featuring the 5-cylinder engine and a crisp, responsive, 5-speed manual transmission to turn the power into motion.
The Audi 5000 S is the complete luxury sedan featuring a full range of creature comforts. There are no optional extras on the Audi 5000 S. Standard equipment includes everything from plush, orthopaedically-designed, power adjustable bucket seats to a 4-speaker stereo; power windows and door locks to a 2-way, electrically powered sunroof. And, as is the case with all models, the 5000 S is designed and engineered to keep the cost of luxury to a mini
mum. Extensive wind tunnel experimentation produced a very low wind drag coefficient, which adds greatly to fuel economy as well as performance. The innovative 5-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive also reduces fuel-consuming weight.

tion in the area of economy is the development of the Audi Diesel engine. Audi engineers have successfully adapted the Audi 5-cylinder gasoline engine for diesel use - re-engineering the lightweight engine block and machining it to accept special high compression pistons. The Audi 5000S Diesel admirably demonstrates the coexistence of economy with luxury.
Economy and efficiency were also two of the main considerations when developing the most powerful Audi of them all. The Audi 5000 Turbo. The Audi turbocharger turns exhaust gases back into horsepower. Thus, a source of generally unused power is put back to work by an ingenious turbine device which is spun by the exhaust gases and in turn creates up to 50% more air pressure in the combustion chambers, and up to 30% more power on demand. One of its most important qualities is that it produces extra power only when it is needed. The Audi 5000 Turbo also offers 4-wheel disc brakes for added stopping power; a large front air
dam for improved aerodynamics; special interior appointments and high performance radial-ply tires.
The entire Audi line, from the 4000 to the Turbo, has been designed and engineered to meet the demands of different types of driving - and to do so with elegance, efficiency, safety and style. And while they are different in certain areas, there are many features that are standard to all Audis.
